Marouane Fellaini Hails Steven Gerard As Best Passer He's Ever Faced
Marouane Fellaini has revealed Liverpool's Steven Gerrard as the best passer he's ever faced, in a "With or Against" Q & A session on Manchester United's official website.
Fellaini, who is preparing for a return to Merseyside to face old club Everton this weekend, has locked horns with the Reds skipper on a
number of occasions, be it in blue for the Toffees or in red for United.
Even though Gerrard only lasted 38 seconds in their last encounter - a 2-1 win for United at Anfield, in which the No 8 was sent off - it hasn't tainted Fellaini's memory of the legendary midfielder's ability.
When asked who was the best passer he's ever faced, the 27-year-old answered simply: "Steven Gerrard".
It was the stand-out response from the Belgium star, who only listed players from either United or Everton aside from the soon-to-be Los Angeles Galaxy man.
Fellaini named Michael Carrick as the best passer he's played with and revealed Toffees' skipper Phil Jagielka as his toughest-tackling opponent ahead of Saturday's trip to Goodison Park, while Phil Jones claimed the crown as the toughest-tackling team-mate.
The imposing midfielder was torn between two current team-mates as the quickest he's played with or against, pondering: "I'd definitely say Smalling, but I'd also say James Wilson, he's really fast too."
Fellaini opted for Sylvain Distin as his fittest opponent, describing him as "unbelievable. He is very fit for 37," and singled out former Everton hitman Yakubu as the best finisher of his time on Merseyside.
At Old Trafford, the £27m signing plumped for ex-captain Nemanja Vidic as the fittest, naming Wayne Rooney as their most clinical at United.
