Jamie Carragher: Watching Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez Makes Me Sick
Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher says Alexis Sanchez has been outstanding this season, but he finds it hard to watch.
The Chilean was a summer signing from Barcelona, and has adapted instantly to the Premier League.
Liverpool had attempted to sign Sanchez last summer as part of the deal which saw them sell Luis Suarez to the La Liga side, but the 26-year-old preferred to move to Arsenal instead.
Jamie Carragher told SkySports that he is still full of regret that the Reds missed out on Sanchez.
He picked the South American as Arsenal's best player of the season, explaining: "He’s actually got 24 goals in all competitions and he’s not someone who takes penalties either so he’s had a huge impact.
"I think he’s perfectly suited to our league. I’m still sick Liverpool never got him."
Sanchez scored past Liverpool in Arsenal's stunning 4-1 win over the Merseysiders at The Emirates a couple of months ago, and he is the type of player Brendan Rodgers' side have sorely lacked.
They have been low on quality in the final third and gambles on unproven players like Lazar Markovic have not worked out.
Liverpool need to find a player like Sanchez this summer to help them kick on, after a disappointing season saw them finish in sixth place, with a woeful 6-1 loss at Stoke City.
Sanchez helped Arsenal to finish in third place, and has a chance to show further that he was right to join Arsenal, by ending the season as an FA Cup winner in a week's time when they take on Aston Villa at Wembley.
Where would Liverpool be in the table if they had Sanchez?
