Memphis Depay Joining Manchester United, According To Reports
Dutch media outlet AD.nl had earlier reported a deal for the 21-year-old would set United back €25m.
Liverpool were the previous favourites for Depay's signature, with the Netherlands international reportedly impressed by the
Reds' plans for next season.
It had also been claimed the youngster was intrigued by the career path of former Dutch export Luis Suarez, who developed into a world class player at Anfield before being bought by Barcelona for £75m last summer.
Depay was understood to be keeping his options open but AD also claimed there was an underlying belief that United were in pole position for his services.
His relationship with United boss Louis van Gaal is likely to be a factor in his decision making, having worked with the experienced coach with the Netherlands national team.
According to Hugo Borst's book O, Louis: In Search of Louis van Gaal, the 63-year-old is described as a "non-biological father" to Depay, who is said to wear 'Memphis' on the back of his shirt for both club and country out of hatred for his natural dad.
"I hope that one day Memphis gets to play under Louis' tutelage again," Borst writes.
"A reunion with his non-biological father would be a blessing. A petulant lad, Memphis is in need of a searching gaze and a gruff commanding voice.
"I swear, half a season with Louis as his manager and Memphis will be striding onto the pitch proudly wearing the name van Gaal on the back of his shirt."
Depay has scored 21 goals in 28 games for PSV this season, helping Phillip Cocu's side to a first Eredivisie title in seven years

Here comes the real number 7, a huge danger with outstanding potentials. I love it that Manchester United is getting their business done early, more trophies for years to come.
