Brazil’s first defeat to Colombia in 24 years ended in even more anguish for the Selecao when Neymar was sent off after the final whistle for a head-butt on goalscorer Jeison Murillo.
Colombia’s Carlos Bacca then came rushing in and pushed Neymar before a swarm of players intervened. Chilean referee Enrique Osses dutifully rushed toward the tunnel to show Neymar a red card before marching back toward midfield to dismiss Bacca.
Neymar had already been booked previously, which ruled him out of Brazil’s next game against Venezuela. Whether a further ban will now be coming Neymar’s way or not remains to be seen.
