Abel Hernandez Banned For 3 Matches For Punching Phil Jones

Hull City striker Abel Hernandez has been suspended for three matches by the FA for punching Manchester United's Phil Jones.

The FA confirmed the Uruguayan's punishment on Thursday afternoon after reviewing footage of the incident, which clearly showed that Hernandez struck the defender's body in the 70th minute of Sunday's 0-0 draw. Hernandez admitted the charge and will now serve a three-match ban at the start of next season.
The incident was missed by match officials but was caught on video and later analysed. Hernandez will now be unavailable for the start of Hull's Championship campaign, after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed following the draw with United.

Hull needed to win on the day and hope Newcastle United failed to beat West Ham, though their rivals scored a 2-0 win to seal Hull's fate.

Hull City v Manchester United - Premier League
Doubt has been cast over the future of Hernandez for several months, given he's struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League. He has been linked strongly with a move back to Italy, having initially signed for £10m at the start of the 2014/15 season from Serie A club Palermo.

Hernandez only managed to score 4 times over the course of the season, despite having a much better season with Palermo in his final year in Italy. Manager Steve Bruce was prepared to shell out the club record fee on the player after seeing him score 14 league goals over the course of the season before.

While his future remains in doubt, the Tigers have also confirmed that they have released six players as they look to start rebuilding their squad. Joe Dudgeon, Liam Rosenior, Paul McShane, Yannick Sagbo, Maynor Figeroa and Steve Harper will all now look for new clubs.

Hull have however offered new deals to Bruce's son and central defender Alex, as well as midfielder Stephen Quinn.
